Sump pumps will help prevent flooding disasters
because they are designed to remove water away
from the home before it reaches the basement and
crawl space. Sump pumps are submersible pumps
that are placed at the bottom of a sump pit. and
installed at the lowest area in the basement or
crawl space. As water accumulates around the
foundation, it is collected by drain pipes and
channels. The water is then redirected in to the
sump pit. Which stores the water until it reaches
a certain level. Once the water level in the sump
pit is high enough, the sump pump removes the
excess water, diverting it away from the
foundation.

Battery backup pumps will automatically come on
if the primary sump pump fails or if there is a
power outage. They are equipped with an alarm to
notify you when the battery powered pump is
activated.   Proper Maintenance Its important to
test your sump pump once every three months to
make sure it is operating efficiently and
effectively.   1. Pour a 5 gallon of water into
the sump pit. 2. The float switch should activate
the pump 3. Water the water drain from the
pit. 4. The pump should shut off once the water
drops below the shutoff level.

How to Clean Replace the Pump Remove debris,
such as dirt, sand, and gravel. Check incoming
drainage lines for debris. Look for worn out
parts that may prevent the pump from working
properly.
