Vitiligo is a long term skin condition
characterized by patches of the skin losing their
pigment. The patches of skin affected become
white and usually have sharp margins. The hair
from the skin may also become white. Inside the

Causes of Vitiligo

• Vitiligo occurs when pigment-producing cells
  (melanocytes) die or stop producing melanin the
  pigment that gives your skin, hair and eyes
  color. The involved patches of skin become
  lighter or white. Doctors don't know why the
  cells fail or die. It may be related to
• A disorder in which your immune system attacks
  and destroys the melanocytes in the skin.
• Family history (heredity).
• A trigger event, such as sunburn, stress or
  exposure to industrial chemicals.

Types of Vitiligo

• Generalized vitiligo -
• Many vitiligo cases are found to be
  bilateral as if it is in one hand, it tends to
  appear and can be on other hand also.
• Segmental vitiligo -
• Generally Vitiligo starts from a particular
  area like one hand, face or from waist line area.
  If vitiligo is spread to few limited area then it
  can be termed as segmental vitiligo. 
• Acrofacial vitiligo-
• Acrofacial vitiligo is the most common
  vitiligo type seen. Acrofacial vitiligo has the
  spread of white patches away from the centre of
  the body.
