The Centre for Obesity, Diabetes and Single
Incision Laparoscopic Surgery founded by Dr. Amit
Garg. CODSILS strives to increase awareness about
obesity, diabetes and associated co-morbidities.
It endeavors to deliver comprehensive and
holistic solutions for weight loss and diabetes
management. CODSILS comprises a panel of medical
professionals whose sole aim is to provide the
excellent healthcare and rehabilitation services.
This also comprises of surgeons who are leaders
in Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery and are
dedicated to perform these procedures through
minimally invasive technique like Single Incision
Trans Umbilical (SITU) technique also known as
Zero Scar Bariatric Surger so that patients reap

FOUNDER OF CODSILS DR AMIT GARG
The founder and director of CODSILS, Dr. Amit
Garg, endearingly referred to as one of the most
recognizable faces in bariatric and advanced
laparoscopic surgery today. This is the result of
years of pioneering work in the field of
bariatric surgery and the high levels of skill
that he brings to his practice. He has performed
the largest number of Single Incision
Laparoscopic Surgeries (SILS) in north India with
a very high success rate, a procedure that needs
a very skilled surgeon. He has many international
publications to his credit.
In 2014 he set up CODSILS with the vision of
offering world-class obesity and diabetes
solutions to patients a dream that has grown by
leaps and bounds over the years.

Bariatric surgery Experience
During my bariatric surgery trainings, I have
participated as a primary surgeon or as an
assistant in more than 300 primary and revisional
bariatric procedures.From Feb 2014 till date,
I am working as a Chief bariatric and metabolic
surgeon in Fortis Hospital, Mohali and have
performed gt100 bariatric and metabolic procedures
which include Sleeve Gastrectomy, Mini Gastric
Bypass, Roux-en-Y gastric Bypass, sleeve with
proximal jejunal bypass, Loop Duodenal Jejunal
Bypass with sleeve Gastrectomy and SILS bariatric
surgery.

QUALIFICATION
MBBSI studied MBBS at Jawaharlal Nehru Medical
College from 1998 to 2003. This college is
affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health
Sciences, Bangalore. I did internship at
Government General Hospital, sector 16,
Chandigarh from December 2003 to December
2004. MS (General Surgery) I studied MS (General
Surgery) from Bharti Vidyapeeth Deemed University
and Medical College from June 2006 to June 2009.
I was the best outgoing student of the post
graduate course in general surgery. FMAS
(Fellowship in Minimally Access Surgery)I did my
fellowship in Minimally Access Surgery (FMAS) and
was awarded this degree in 2013 after clearing
the exam conducted by Association of Minimal
Access Surgeons of India (AMASI). Minimal access
surgery is a highly specialized, technology
driven field of surgery that requires special
training and exposure to sophisticated endovision
equipment and hand instruments. FMAMBS
(Fellowship in Minimal Access Metabolic and
Bariatric Surgery)I did my Fellowship in Minimal
access metabolic and bariatric Surgery (FMAMBS)
from Max Hospital, New Delhi in 2013. This
fellowship program is essentially a
multidisciplinary weight management program that
revolves around the bariatric surgical services
provided at the institute. FBMS (Fellowship in
Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery) I did my
Fellowship in Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery
under the eminent surgeon Dr. C.K Huang in E-Da
Hospital, Kaoushing, Taiwan from 2013-2014. The
Bariatric Metabolic International (BMI) Surgery
Center of E-Da hospital is the first accredited
International Center of Excellence (ICE) for
Bariatric Surgery in the Asia-Pacific region. It
organized and hosted the 1st International
Excellence Forum in 2010, to establish a
platform for the propagation of surgical
knowledge and expertise among surgeons worldwide.
Following its immense success, the International
Excellence Federation (IEF) was formed to provide
a resourceful network for centers to share,
contribute and exchange their opinions, data and
results.
