We have been treating type 2 diabetes patients
using a surgical method. It is called Metabolic
Surgery. The classic treatment paradigm of type 2
diabetes is education, diet, exercise and the use
of medication. The condition that includes
obesity, diabetes, high cholesterol and
hypertension is called Metabolic Syndrome. The
treatment of Metabolic Syndrome by surgical
methods is called Metabolic Surgery.

The term Ileal Interposition, in brief, is a kind
of exchange of the initial and final parts of the
small intestine. The insulin resistance hormones,
Ghrelin (stomach), GIP (duodenum) and glucagon
(pancreas), are excreted from the initial parts
of the digestive system and the insulin
sensitivity hormone, called GLP-1, is released
from the L cells in the last part of the
intestine. GLP-1 is a hormone that increases the
effects of insulin and stimulates insulin
production by the pancreas. Basically, the goal
of this procedure is to leave the resistance
hormones aside and increase the sensitivity
hormones.

Diabetes, otherwise known as the sugar disease,
is common and causes serious results. It is
caused by a pancreas generated insulin
insufficiency or insulin inefficiency. Without
insulin, sugar and other nutritional elements
gained from food cannot be taken up by the cells.
