Polyethylene Pouch The Preferred Pack

• The pouches are single-trip packages, very light
  in weight and hence distribution costs are less
  compared to glass bottles
• Losses during pouch filling are less than bottle
  filling
• Less floor space is required for the packing and
  cold storage
• According to BIS standards (IS11805-1986),
  pouches should be made from virgin polyethylene
  (LDPE, LLDPE, HDPE or EVA) for meeting food grade
  standards
• Today LLDPE is the preferred choice
• More recently, octene and butene-based LLDPE are
  used. These ensure that the dairy product reaches
  the end consumer as it is supposed to without
  contamination and without damaging its nutrients,
  freshness or taste and odour.
