How to Make Gawar Sabji ?
Gavar or cluster beans sabji is a standard recipe
in every Maharashtrian home. Simple to make,
tasty, not much spicy gawar bhaji can be made as
dry or gravy. Read healthy gawar sabji with
step by step instructions.

  • Ingredients
  • 1/4 kg gawar
  • 1 potato
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 tomato, chopped
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1/4 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/4 hing
  • 2 tsp oil
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • 3 tsp fresh grated coconut
  • salt to taste

  • Recipe
  • Wash gawar well in water. Remove the ends and
    chop the gawar in bunch. Keep aside.
  • 2. Peel the potato. Chop it in small cubes. Do
    not cut the potato very thick.
  • Else it will take more time than gavar to cook.
  • 3. Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds, when
    they start to crackle,
  • add chopped onion. Sauté until onion becomes
    tender and light brown.
  • 4. Now add chopped tomato. Fry for few minutes.
  • 5. Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, hing,
    garam masala. Fry for 4 5 minutes.
  • 6. Add gavar, potato. Fry for 2 3 minutes. Add
    little water.
  • 7. Cover the pan with a lid. Cook gavar on low
    flame.
  • 8. Cook gavar and potato for 10 12 minutes. In
    case water dries and gavar is not yet cooked, you
    can add
  • some more water.
  • 9. Once gavar is cooked, add salt and grated
    coconut. Mix well and cook for 5 minutes more.
  • 10. Gavar bhaji is ready to serve with roti,
    dal-rice.
