• Year 2017 is the best time to apply for work
  or Permanent Residency (PR) in Australia. The
  government of Australia has recently some
  critical changes to immigration system which are
  unlikely to go well with the Australian visa
  applicant next year or years to come. Lets take
  a look few of such key changes.

1. 457 Visa Program Abolished

• In April, 2017, Australian government has
  abolished popular 457 Visa program for temporary
  foreign skilled workers. The two new visa
  categories with stricter requirements will
  replace this visa next year. Hence, next year for
  temporary visa, candidates will face tougher
  eligibility criteria

2. Lesser Occupations to Nominate

• The government has also removed 200
  occupations from Consolidated Skilled Occupations
  List (CSOL) and also replaced the same with new
  Combined List of Eligible Occupations. This list
  may further reduce next year to leave even fewer
  occupations to nominate to apply for Australian
  visa.

3. Staff Cut in DIBP

• The DIBP has cut the staff of 350 people from
  Visa and Citizenship section of Department of
  Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP). This
  step is expected to increase the processing time
  of visa applications next year and years to come.

4. Stricter Citizenship test Requirement

• The citizenship Test requirements have been
  made stricter now by the Government of Australia.
  This is being seen as another key step of the
  government to control the immigration in the
  country.

5. Further Changes are Expected

• The Aussie government may announce further
  changes in its immigration system and
  requirements by end of this year and year to
  come, to control the immigration in the country.
  Hence, you must apply for Australia PR or work
  visa right now, when immigration rules are
  relatively easy.
