Title: Why Choose Dental Inlays and Onlays

1
WHY CHOOSE
DENTAL
INLAYS
AND
ONLAYS

3
  • A dental onlay or an inlay is a way to give
structure back to the tooth without performing a
dental implant. Or performing another procedure
that might be a bit more invasive.

4
  • The inlay or onlay is like a filling. But it is
done in a laboratory. Then it is bonded to the
tooth instead of the damaged area being removed
    and filled in the office.

5
  • Inlays and onlays do not weaken the structure of
the teeth. Over time the teeth will begin to
    strengthen.

6
  • Most people can bear at least 50 more chewing
force than before the inlays and onlays were
    placed.

7
  • The inlay is performed when the structure is
replaced close to the tips of the tooth.
  • Damage that is a bit more extensive or requires
more of the tooth to be addressed is done with an
    onlay.

8
  • The onlay will usually cover the entire surface
area of the tooth instead of only certain parts.
  • A benefit of the dental inlay is that it doesn't
show on the tooth like a filling would.

9
  • It is made to look as natural as possible.
  • This gives you the beautiful smile that you
desire. And it usually takes only 1 or 2 visits
    to the dentist.

10
  • The inlays allow you to chew once again without
    worrying about the tooth breaking.
  • Inlays can be made of porcelain or resin that is
colored to match the shade of the tooth.

11
  • This will give as natural of a look as possible
so that no one can tell that there is anything
    there.
  • Inlays are also sometimes made of gold.

12
  • The process of an inlay is often less expensive
than a crown. It is another benefit of the
procedure for those without dental insurance or
those who can't afford significant work done.

13
  • Most inlays can be placed in one visit unless
there are issues with the lab that would cause a
delay. The dentist can save more of the tooth
    with a dental inlay.

14
  • An inlay won't expand or contract when you eat
something hot or cold. This prevents breaking
that might occur with a filling.

15
  • The dental onlay is performed when there is more
of the chewing surface involved and more damage
    to the tooth.

16
  • Each onlay is made from one of many materials
that are available, such as porcelain or resin.

17
  • The onlay procedure sometimes takes two visits to
the office only because there is more of the
tooth that needs to be covered.

18
  • Each material has a different color. But the
laboratory will get the onlay as close to the
    natural shade as possible.

19
  • The tooth is prepared at the first visit with
molds being taken of the teeth to create the
    onlay.

20
  • The second visit is when the onlay is placed. The
dentist will examine the bite to ensure that it's
natural and fitting in the mouth.

21
  • A benefit of the onlay is that you can eat almost
anything that you would with your normal tooth
without the fear of chipping or breaking.

22
  • The onlays are easy to clean and stay true to
    size on the tooth.

23
  • Noble Dental Care is a family oriented dental
care clinic with dentists that care about you and
    your health.
