Title: About Barolo & Nebbiolo Wine
1About Barolo Nebbiolo Wine
2Paolo Scavino Barolo Monvigliero 2007
Good full, dark red. Deep, pure, brooding aromas
of black cherry, licorice and leather, plus a
hint of oak spices. Offers lovely aromatic lift
but comes across as tightly wound, even
youthfully imploded, today, showing less texture
than the more open-knit Ambrogio.

4Giuseppe Rinaldi Barolo Brunate La Coste 2006
5Brunate component Medium red. Mocha, brown
spices, tobacco and cocoa powder on the nose,
with suggestions of superripeness. Sweet, lush
and deep, with decadent flavors of plum, tobacco,
brown spices and earth. Finishes long and sweet,
with substantial broad, ripe tannins. From a
barrel of pure Le Coste Bright, deep red. Rather
Burgundian aromas of mocha, smoke and earth, with
good mineral lift
6Rinaldi Francesco Figli Barolo Brunate DOCG 2010
The 2010 Barolo Le Brunate is the most dynamic
and textured of these wines. Dark cherry, plum,
smoke and violet notes flesh out in a firm,
muscular Barolo endowed with tons of classic
Brunate nuance. The flavors are intense, dark and
bold. Balsamic overtones develop in the glass,
adding further shades of nuance and complexity

10Giuseppe Rinaldi Barolo Tre Tine 2010
The 2010 Barolo Tre Tine is classic and austere
to the core. Here, the blend of sites yields a
massively tannic, old-school Barolo that is for
the exceedingly patient. Dark red cherry, plum,
smoke, tobacco, cedar and licorice are some of
the many notes that flesh out in the glass. The
2010 is incredibly focused, with tons of Le Coste
in its flavor profile, but above all else, in its
structure

12Brovia Barolo Ca Mia 2010 (Magnum)
13Smoke, tar, earthiness and licorice add gorgeous
dimensions of complexity in the 2010 Barolo Brea
Vigna Ca Mia. Here, too, the flavors are
remarkably bright and focused. The dark, brooding
notes of Serralunga are very much present, but
the 2010 impresses for its pure balance, harmony
and class. Dried rose petals, spices, licorice
and game add complexity on a huge finish
supported by big, incisive tannins.
14Giuseppe Mascarello Barolo Monprivato 2010
This was a treat Mascarello pulled from cask at
the end of my tasting) Medium red. Knockout nose
showcases tangy red fruits, minerals and porcini.
Conveys an impression of superb concentration and
dusty extract, with the tactile solidity of the
best young 2010s already coming through in
spades. A wine of great length and potential
15Luciano Sandrone Barolo Cannubi Boschis 2004
Just as impressive as it was at the outset, the
2004 Barolo Cannubi Boschis remains fresh,
vibrant and absolutely impeccable. Black
cherries, plums, spices meld into mocha, menthol
and leather as this plush, inviting Barolo shows
off its alluring personality. As good as the 2004
is today, it truthfully still needs time to show
all of its cards
