WAYS TO PERFORM A KIDNEY BIOPSY

observed under the microscope to get detailed
information about a kidney disease. There are two
different ways to perform a kidney biopsy
  • Percutaneous biopsy- In this procedure a doctor
inserts a thin needle through the skin to remove
the patients kidney tissue. To guide the needle
to a specific area of the kidney, an ultrasound
    or CT scan is used.
  • Open biopsy- A small incision is made in the skin

RESULT OF KIDNEY BIOPSY
  • The tissue extracted from the patients kidney is
observed in the laboratory. It takes 6 to 7 days
to prepare a full biopsy report. A report will
indicate whether the results are normal or
abnormal. If, the kidneys are functioning
properly and are free from deposits and other
problems, then the results are normal. The
results are considered abnormal if there is a
change in the structure of the kidneys and
harmful toxins are present in the kidneys. The
abnormal kidneys are the indication of an
    infection, weakness, or cancer.
