Title: Are you Ready to Rock?
1Are you Ready to Rock?
2Kinesiology taping has been gaining lots of
recognition lately with Olympic and Professional
Athletes seen sporting brightly coloured tape in
interesting designs. This has sparked many
clients asking what does it do and does it really
work? As a physiotherapist committed to
continuing education and intrigued myself about
the powers of the florescent tape I recently
enrolled in a course in one such mode of
Kinesiology taping called Rock Tape or more
specifically Fascial Movement Taping.
3If you have seen a rehabilitation professional
(such as a physiotherapist, chiropractor,
massage therapist, osteopath or kinesiologist) in
the past you may have heard them use the term
fascia (pronounced Fash-a). So what is
Fascia? Quite simply put, fascia can be
described as the biological fabric that holds us
together .
4As clinicians we continually strive to ensure our
treatment techniques are supported by evidence
and time an again the research throughout the
rehabilitation field has shown that a multimodal
approach to treatment is most effective.
This means that we need to use a variety of tools
in our tool box to get the best results.
Kinesiology taping techniques like FMT are
exciting tools to help clients achieve their
rehabilitation and performance goals and with
those flashy colours they can have fun looking
like a Pro in the process.
