Karnataka
  • Karnataka is blessed abundantly with natures
splendour. From hills, mountains, lakes, rivers
and sea, it has a number of options for tourists
and nature lovers alike. No wonder it attracts a
huge number of tourists from across the country
    or outside through the year.
  • Be it the mountains for adventure aficionados or
some quiet seaside getaway, the possibilities are
numerous. From a trekkers perspective, Bangalore
can spoil you for choice with its superb trekking
trails. Let us explore three of the popular
trails that will leave you mesmerised.

Nandi Hills,Bangalore
  • About 61 km away from Bangalore, you can trek to
Nandi Hills anytime of the yearsummer, winter or
monsoon. The stone stairway trail lined with tall
and shady eucalyptus trees at the hills is not
that arduous for a fit person.
  • During the three hours trek, as you ascend the
hills, it is a bird watchers delight. The
surrounding peaks jut out as you go higher up and
the view of the city is simply breathtaking.
  • The higher you climb, all that you see are the
clouds covering the landscape below, moving and
floating with the wind. After over an hours
time, the fort comes to view

Skandagiri Trek
  • Also called the Kalavara Durga, Skandagiri Hill
is situated around 60 km from Bangalore. The 8-km
    trek takes nearly three-and-a-half hours.
  • Plan a trek to this place between November and
February when it is the best to be there.
Overlooking the Nandi Hills, Skandagiri Hill
houses a fort and a temple dating back to the
    Tipu Sultan era.
  • Both might be in ruins now, but the view from the
hill top cannot compare to anything else. If you
are game for camping, you can pitch in a tent for
the night and wake up to a spectacular sunrise.

Savandurga Trek
  • Savandurga Hill lies very close to Bangalore, as
it is only 50 km away. A favourite among
trekkers, this hill comprises the Billigudda and
Karigudda peaks. However, follow the trail that
is clearly defined with markings or take a guide
as it is a dense forest area there are chances of
    getting lost.
  • The Billigudda peak is considered to be safe with
markings clearly defined. Also, the large
boulders have ensured sparse vegetation. As you
ascend, at each level, you will keep seeing the
seven walls of Tipu Sultans fort.

  • Once you are on top of the hill, all your
exhaustion will disappear as you see the view of
    the landscape.
  • The 4-km trek can be best done from November to
February. Avoid trekking to Savandurga Hill
during the monsoon as the trail can get dangerous.

  • The treks can be challenging at some points but
exercise caution and enjoy the view as you
ascend. To book your bus tickets for Bangalore,
