council lawyers in South West Wales have been
batting away compensation claims from staff and
the public, although a few slips and trips have
resulted in payouts. Swansea Council received 241
personal injury claims from residents between
April 1 2015 and August 20, 2016, which led to
nine payouts totalling 35,683. The highest sum
paid out to a city resident was 22,708 for a
pavement trip, while 2,000 was paid after a
resident fell in a building. The sums do not
