2Case A case is one of the most prominent watch
parts and is the body of the watch that is
connected to the bands at the extreme ends.
Dial Its the face of the watch. The hands and
Hour markers are put on here.
3Hands Its the hour, minute and the second hands
which shows the time.
Crown Its the round shaped winder that allows
people to change time, date, and movements.
4Crystal This is made of either sapphire or
plastic crystal. This glass covers the dial.
- Bezel It is a round shaped outer ring that
seals the case.
5Lugs the two pointed edges that attach to the
bands on both top and bottom edges of the case.
- Bracelet It is the metal watchch band that
wraps around the wrist. It is generally made of
stainless steel or gold.
6End Piece It is the small metal piece that
allows the bracelet to be attached to the case.
- Spring Bar It is a push pin that holds the
bracelet together.
7Link Links make up the bracelet and can be
removed or added to fit one's wrist.
- Aftermarket Parts The non self made watch
accessories that dont display company logos or
hallmarks.
8Balance Spring It controls the swing of the
balance.
- Arbor It is the axle on which the gear rides
9- Concealed Clasp The clasp buckle is concealed
under the bracelet's links. It appears to be a
continuous flowing metal watch bands. -
- Divers' Extension It is a hinged extension
within the watch's bracelet, that allows the
bracelet to be lengthened, to fit the divers' wet
suit.
10Hallmark It is a mark or stamp indicating the
purity of the metal, and/or country of import, or
the date.It can also be called as the watch
maker's tools.
- Mainspring It is the main spring of a watch
that supplies the force of motion to the gear
trains.
11Perpetual Movement It is just another term for
an automatic or self winding movement. This
movement causes a weight inside the watch that
rotates backward and forward, thus keeping it in
constant tension.
- Serial Number It is an identification number
of a watch. It is usually engraved between the
lugs. This number can often be used o date the
production of the watch.
