2Throwing Techniques (Nage-Waza)
Nage-waza is the Japanese name of grappling
technique. It involves throwing an opponent to
the ground by off-balancing or lifting him. It
involves a pulling and rotating motion while
maintaining balance.
3Standing Techniques (Tachi-Waza)
Tachi-waza are executed from a standing position.
These can be categorised into Hand techniques
(Te-waza), Foot / Leg techniques (Ashi-waza),
and Hip techniques (Koshi-waza).
4Sacrifice Techniques (Sutemi-Waza)
Sutemi-waza involves landing on the back or side
to throw the opponent. The Sutemi-waza has two
categories Ma-sutemi-waza (Back Sacrifice) and
Yoko-sutemi-waza (Side Sacrifice).
5Grappling Techniques Katame-Waza
The Katame-waza technique is used when both
opponents are lying on the ground. This technique
can be divided into Kansetsu-waza (Joint
locks), Kansetsu-waza (Choking techniques), and
Osae-Komi-waza (Pinning techniques).
