Title: KTM Suspension Setup

KTM Suspension Setup

  • For dirt-bikers, getting a custom KTM suspension
tuning done is one the best and most important
modifications that can be done for the bike.
Generally there are a number of reasons why your
bikes suspension may get affected. Some of these
include prolonged use of the bike without proper
KTM suspension setup, or due to accidents and
rough handling without regular suspension tuning,
etc. As a result, the bikes suspension can begin
to seem deflective and harsh, which are clear
indications that it is time for a KTM suspension
    tuning.
  • Suspension also gets affected due to the sag
that it suffers when a rider sits on the bike.
Sag is the amount of compression that takes place
in the suspension from a fully extended position,
and the amount of sag a bike will experience
depends upon a number of factors including weight
of the rider, sprung weight of the bike, pre-load
on the spring as well as the spring rate. Since
sag can affect bikes handling and its chassis
geometry, maintaining correct spring rate is very
important for good suspension. And hence, using
good quality KTM suspension springs are critical
during the initial KTM suspension setup.
  • When you go to a dedicated KTM suspension tuning
expert like Moto Lab, who cater to dual sport
bikes as well as dirt bikes, they know how much
difference suspension and lowering can make to
the performance of the bike. Although many such
companies suggest lowering 1 from both front and
rear ends, they can also go up to 2 lowering for
    most types of bikes.

  • It is recommended that KTM springs with precision
tolerances be used, since they are the lightest
in the industry. Their ultralight weight helps in
reducing the unsprung mass, and helps in
achieving maximum deflection. Such KTM suspension
springs can offer square-end configurations under
both loaded and unloaded conditions. Another
advantage of these KTM shock springs is that they
have great durability and shock resistance.
  • Sometimes the KTM suspension springs may get
affected due to a crash, as a result the bikes
suspension feels off. While it may feel like the
suspension has become defective, its quite
likely only a small issue and not a very severe
one. In such a case, a simple do-it-yourself KTM
suspension tuning can be done at home to solve
the problem. For this, try to re-set the front
end by loosening the lower triple clamp bolts as
well as the lower right axle pinch bolts. After
this push down the front end while ensuring to
hold in the front brake. Now just re-torque the
fasteners to default factory settings and test.
This should likely solve the problem, but if
there is still an issue contact an expert company
that can take care of KTM suspension tuning for
    you.
