Title: Tips for Cleaning Your Pool
1Tips for Cleaning Your Pool
2Having a swimming pool can be a lot of fun,
especially on those very hot summer days. It can
be a gathering place for family and friends but
it can be a very difficult job to maintain your
pool. Some of the pool cleaning will need to be
done daily while others can be every-other-day or
weekly.
3Skimming the surface Every day your pool should
be check to see if it needs to be skimmed. By
skimmed this means that you should use a leaf net
or skimmer to remove any leaves, bugs, or other
debris that is floating on the surface of the
pool. You should also check to see if anything
has floated to the bottom that needs to be
removed. A leaf bagger would be used if
something were on the bottom. Doing this pool
maintenance it will help keep the suction lines
from becoming clogged and you will not need to
scavenge the pump basket when you vacuum the
pool.
4Tile cleaning Some have a portable swimming
pool where there are no tiles to clean but if you
have an above ground or in-ground swimming pool
there are usually tiles around the pool area.
Keeping them clean will make your pool look good.
If you see any scum or ring lines on the tiles
it is just a mixture of dust and oil. You can
use a powdered or liquid tile cleansing mixture
to brush out the tiles. This will take out the
scum and rings. If you notice any gray sediments
on the tiles you can remove they by using a
liquid tile cleaner or a soft pumice stone.
5Pump strainer basket and skimmer Examining
these should be on the weekly pool maintenance
list to see if there any faults in them. If you
are experiencing a lot of windy weather they need
to be checked every day. This will allow for
sufficient suction and effective filtration for
the vacuuming and brushing processes. If you do
not do this it could lead to damage that could
make your pump inoperative.
6Vacuuming This chore should also be on your
weekly pool maintenance list and in windy
conditions more often. When vacuuming the pool
you should stroke slowly using an overlapping
stroke.
7Brushing Doing an occasional brushing plays an
important part in helping to preserve the
appearance of your plaster. If you do not do
this you could have the formation of algae and
dirt stains. Both of these can be hard to get
rid of. It should also be done once a week in
order to keep the filth away.
