Title: Tips For Finding The Right Night Vision Binoculars
1Tips For Finding The Right Night Vision
Binoculars
2It doesnt matter whether you are looking for a
pair for recreational, military, law enforcement
or hunting, there are night vision binoculars
meant for every purpose that you can imagine.
There are high tech night vision binoculars that
are meant for surveillance as well as the simple
model that can be used as a childs plaything if
you are going to purchase a pair, it is important
that you know what features you need to look for.
3Night vision binoculars work by gathering the
existing ambient light such as moonlight,
starlight or any amount of infra-red light
through their front lens the light, which is
normally made of photons, gets transmitted to a
photocathode tube that changes the photons into
electrons. The electrons will then be amplified
by a number of times through a chemical and
electrical process before they are hurled against
a phosphorus screen that has the ability to
transform the amplified electrons back into light
that can be seen through the eyepiece. The
emerging image will be a clear green hue that is
an amplified recreation of the scene that you are
observing.
4Night vision binoculars perform differently
depending on the light conditions that are
prevailing if there is no star in the sky or
there are no street lights, you may not be able
to see anything at all. The rule of the thumb is
normally that the lower the light situation you
are dealing with, the more powerful the night
vision binoculars need to be you can choose
between Gen 1, Gen 2 and Gen 3-night vision
binoculars.
5Gen 1 binoculars will work well on a night where
there are a full moon and bright stars but in a
situation where you have a crescent moon then Gen
2 is what will work for you. However, if you are
using one on the dark cloudy night only a Gen 3
night vision binoculars will work. While
generation 1 binoculars are affordable, you will
need to dig deeper into your pocket for
generation 2 and 3.
6How far you can see with night vision binoculars
will largely depend on a number of variables
normally, the larger the object you are trying to
look at, the easier it is for you to see it. When
you are trying to see the clearer details this is
normally known as the recognition range.
7However, if you are trying to check whether there
is something or not you may just be able to see a
movement that may not be 100 clear and this is
called a detection range. The other important
variable is the light condition, the more light
that is available whether it is from the moon,
stars or infrared, the better and further away
you should be able to see with a night vision
device.
