1
San Francisco The Seductress Of The California
Coast
2
  • Theres something magical about San Francisco
that makes visitors want to leave their hearts in
this city by the bay. Perhaps its the aroma of
fresh-baked sourdough bread infused with ocean
breezes that entice visitors or perhaps its the
morning fog moving in from the bay that gives the
city a mystical air. Whatever the reason, its
easy for visitors to fall in love with this
    historic city.

3
  • San Francisco is filled with so many things to
see and do it can take weeks, months or even
years to take everything in. Since most visitors
wont have this luxury of unlimited time, theyll
need to pick carefully and choose from this
    smorgasbord of offerings.
  • Visiting San Francisco without riding a cable
car is like visiting Paris and ignoring the
Eiffel Tower it cant be done. The two routes
that are most popular with visitors run from
Union Square to near Fishermans Wharf
Powell-Mason, which ends at Fishermens Wharf,
and Powell-Hyde, which ends at Ghirardelli
Square, a short walk from Fishermans Wharf. The
Powell-Hyde line stops at Lombard Street,
nicknamed the worlds most crooked street.

  • Fishermans Wharf is one of the citys top
tourist destinations. Still a working fishing
wharf, its also home to numerous seafood
restaurants and clam chowder stands. This is a
good place to buy some sourdough bread to eat
with a grab-and-go shrimp cocktail or catch a
ferry to Alcatraz Island. Fishermans Wharf
blends into Pier 39, where visitors can watch sea
lions do what they do best bark, sleep and play.

5
  • Visitors traveling north on Highway 101 will
cross the Golden Gate Bridge, another San
    Francisco landmark. Considered an engineering
marvel when it was built in the 20th century,
this three-mile long suspension bridge crosses
the channel linking San Francisco Bay and the
Pacific Ocean. Instead of whizzing over the
bridge in a car, visitors can leisurely stroll or
bike across since it has sidewalks on both sides.

6
  • Dont have time for a trip to Chinatown? San
Franciscos Chinatown makes a good substitute.
Its the largest Chinatown outside of Asia and
the oldest Chinatown in North America. Fortune
cookies, served in the United States but not in
China, were said to be invented here in the late
19th century. In Chinatown, one can visit a
fortune cookie factory to see how this
after-dinner treat is made. Hungry visitors will
want to dine on authentic Chinese meal' the
city's Chinese citizens have been cooking up
tasty meals since they landed in San Francisco in
    1848.
  • As visitors quickly learn, its easy to leave
    your heart in San Francisco.
