Title: Vehicle Theft Prevention
1I love the area that I live in.
2It is a safe area with a low volume of crime.
3This as a driver is very important to me.
4The reason being is that there is less of a
chance of my vehicle being stolen.
5Unfortunately vehicle theft is a truth that all
drivers must be aware of.
6However, with these tips and information
hopefully drivers can reduce their chances of
becoming another number in the statistic
7A scary statistic is that every 45 second a car
is being stolen in the U.S.
8This can be for a number of factors.
9These factors include the kind of vehicle that is
being stolen.
10In 2012 the top ten automobile choice of theft
ranged from the Mercedes-Benz to the Chevy
Captiva.
11Another factor for car theft is actually where
the driver lives.
12The top 10 U.S. States for automobile theft are
California leading the nation, Florida, Texas,
Georgia, Illinois, New Jersey, North Carolina,
Ohio, and Nevada at number 10.
13Another scary statistic is that 45 of stolen
cars are never recovered.
14Why is this number so high? What can drivers do
to reduce the chance of them being the next
target? The first thing that drivers need to do
is realize that most automobile thefts are due to
the driver of the vehicle forgetting their common
sense.
15This may sound a bit harsh, but it is also very
true.
16Drivers at times forget that when someone is
stealing something the thief wants as big of a
score as possible.
17That means if they can acquire more than just the
car they will.
18With that logic in mind if a driver leaves
something valuable in plain sight then they are
increasing the likelihood of being a victim of
car theft.
19Another thing that drivers need to remember is to
not make it easy for someone to steal their car.
20This includes locking your doors, rolling up your
windows and taking your keys.
21The final tip to reducing vehicle theft that I
will discuss is to properly maintain your car.
22This means that if you have an older vehicle that
may look like a clunker then you should do
everything you can to improve the quality of the
vehicle.
23People tend to think that car thieves dont want
clunkers, but that is the exact opposite.
24Junk cars are valuable to them for parts to sell
to chop shops, and usually these vehicles have
less securities devices making it that much
easier to steal.
