  • The day inside our calendar that marks day one of
winter usually means astronomical seasons that
are a result on the Earth's axis and orbit about
the sun. However, on the Met Office we regularly
use a meteorological specification the seasons
first day of winter 2016. Let's take a short
    overview of the real difference.

5
  • Meteorological seasons are instead according to
    annual temperature cycles measuring the
meteorological state and coinciding with all the
Gregorian calendar to ascertain a clear
transition and equal time period of season.

6
  • This year the meteorological winter begins on 1
December 2015 and ends on 29 February 2016.The
meteorological seasons is made up of splitting
the seasons into four periods derived from three
    months each.

7
  • These seasons are split to coincide with the
Gregorian calendar making it easier for
    meteorological observing and forecasting to
compare and contrast seasonal and monthly
    statistics. By the meteorological calendar,
winter always starts on 1 December.

8
  • The seasons are thought as First day of winter
(March, April, May), Summer (June, July, August),
Autumn (September, October, November) and Winter
    (December, January, February).Astronomical
    winter season

9
  • The astronomical calendar determines the seasons
a result of the 23.5 degree tilt on the Earth's
rotational axis pertaining to its orbit round the
    sun.

  • The dates from the equinoxes and solstices aren't
fixed due to Earth's elliptical orbit with the
sun. The Earth's orbit across the sun shows that
in early January, direct sunlight is closest
(called perihelion) and during the early July
it's most distant (aphelion). Visit here for more
information about First day of winter.

be like during wintertime showing the wettest,
warmest, sunniest, driest and coldest First day
    of winter on record.
