Rough Spun Linen
Rough-spun linen is made from thicker fibers and
is coarser in texture. This type of linen fabric
is traditionally used for work wear, such as
butchers aprons and other work gear. Heavier
than linen traditionally used for clothing, the
rough-spun variety is very durable and can
withstand a lot of wear and tear.

Linen Blends Fabric
Linen can be blended with other fibers to create
a sturdier fabric when mixed with wool, it is
called wincey. The addition of wool increases the
insulative abilities of linen, making it an
acceptable fabric for cooler temperatures. Today,
a cotton-linen blend fabric has become the
preferred choice, especially for summer wear.

Damask Linen Fabric
Damask linen fabric is a type that is woven on a
jacquard loom, using a mix of plain and satin
weaves. The fibers most often are flat and
reversible, and therefore damask fabric has a
smooth texture with a reversible pattern. To
make the design and pattern stand out, damask
usually comes in one color and is usually used
for linen napkins, linen tablecloths, linen
table runners and other home textile pieces.

Plain-woven Linen Fabric
Plain-woven linen fabric is also called a glass
toweling one because of its most common use
wiping glassware. This fabric has typically a
checkered or striped pattern of red or blue or
both on a white background. This type of linen
fabric has a loose weave that makes it more
absorbent and better suited for cleaning
purposes, but also less durable.

Loosely Woven Linen Fabrics
Loosely woven linen fabrics are made this way to
make them highly absorbent. They are commonly
used for diapers and sanitary towels. One of the
varieties of loosely woven fabrics is birds eye
linen, which is characterized by small geometric
patterns that are reminiscent of a birds eye.

Sheeting Linen Fabric
Sheeting linen is a heavy type and is usually
used in the manufacture of sheets. It is being
made wide for this purpose. Suits and dresses and
other linen clothing can be also made of it.
