Title: How to Brush Your Teeth with Braces

1
  • How to Brush Your Teeth with Braces

2
  • The decision to get braces to realign the teeth
isnt one that most people take lightly. It
requires a commitment of time, finances, and good
oral hygiene practices to achieve the best
possible results. Because brackets cover the
teeth for the duration of treatment, its
essential that you brush and floss several times
per day. This is the best way to ensure that oral
health remains strong while wearing braces.

3
  • Best Practices for Brushing and Flossing During
    Orthodontic Treatment

4
  • Like most patients, you are probably wondering
how to brush your teeth with braces. Dr. Ahmad
and the staff at All Star Dental recommend
    following these steps
  • Take out any rubber bands or removable
appliances prior to brushing your teeth.

5
  • Keeping your toothbrush at a 45-degree angle,
brush each tooth individually for approximately
10 seconds. You should use a circular motion
while applying gentle pressure to each tooth.
Additionally, make sure you brush both the inner
and outer surface of each tooth. You may need to
tilt your toothbrush at slightly increased angle
to reach the inner layer of your front teeth.

6
  • Purchase dental floss made specifically for
orthodontic treatment and floss with it every
morning and evening after brushing your teeth.

7
  • Rinse with water and then use mouthwash to keep
your breath fresh and your teeth, tongue, and
gums as clean as possible. Next, look in the
mirror to make sure that no plaque or food
particles remain. Your teeth should feel clean
    and appear to sparkle.
