1. PITHORA

house. Pithoras are now also painted on fabric.
The pithora especially depicts the past and the
present of the Rathwas. The bright colors and the
unique designs show a special aesthetic sense
about the history. It basically shows the
sequence of marriage of Babo Pithora with Pithori
Devi. It usually has birds, animals, and insects
commonly and also mythological figures like
Ravana from the Ramayana. Every pithora is
designed with a boundary and an entrance. It is a
ritualistic painting and is believed to bring
prosperity and good luck to the family.

2. BANDHANI

3. PATOLA

Patola is one of the textile art. Patola is very
popular from a region in Gujarat named Patan,
with its uniqueness like gorgeous colors, designs
and durability. Both the sides of the fabric have
equal intensity of colors and design. Paintings
in Ajanta caves relate the tie-dye technique of
patola.
The needle work of Kutch in Gujarat is very
famous. Kutchhi bharat represents a different and
colorful thread embroidery work which reflects
the culture and art of the Kutch. It is specially
used to design very traditional clothes. This is
considered as a very complicated and microscopic
work compared to all other types of embroidery
work in Gujarat. This style of embroidery is
described by geometrically decorative designs and
sometimes with a few petal flowers, worked in
minor square chain stitching often outlined with
white consecutive stitches.

5. AARI WORK, ZARI AND ZARDOSI

Aari work is largely practiced in Ahmedabad
through various organizations.
It is a very well- known work of Gujarat and
requires not just the perfect stitch but also the
understanding of the innate technique by which it
is created. This special stitch is similar to
cobblers stitch.

Zari is a special thread of gold or silver, which
is mostly used for Aari embroidery. Designs
cannot be directly created so first they are
printed with kachha color which goes away or is
not seen cause of the work.
FLAMINGO
Zardosi is all about glittering springs of the
thin gold, silver or copper thread that is
stitched on the fabric to highlight the beautiful
designs. Different kind of tiny glitter object
like pearls, metal, stones, beads are also used
by craftsman to add a regal effect to it.
