BLOG
  • Most golfers fail to realize that knowledge of
the rules can help them in their round. A recent
situation at my local club highlights this
  • A group were arguing over the options available
when declaring a ball unplayable, the consensus
being that there are only two options to choose
    from
  • 1. Drop within two club lengths of where ball
    rests (not nearer the hole).
  • 2. Drop behind where the ball rests (no limit on
distance) keeping that point between the drop
    point and the flag.
  • One hapless fellow suggested that he could also
play from the place from which the previous shot
was played. He was ridiculed by his playing
    partners.
  • But of course, anyone who knows the rules will be
aware that (for a 1 stroke penalty) a ball can
always be replayed from where it was last played.
And even be teed-up if the previous shot was from
    the tee.
