2
CONTENT
  • TISSUE
  • HISTORY
  • IMPORTANCE
  • TYPES OF TISSUE
  • PLANT TISSUE

3
WHAT IS TISSUE ?
  • A group of cells which are similar in structure
and work together to perform a common function is
    called tissue.

4
HISTORY OF TISSUE
  • The term tissue was given by BICHAT.
  • Study of tissue is called histology.

5
IMPORTANCE OF TISSUE
  1. It increase efficiency.
  2. It decreases the work load of individual cell.
  3. It form organ and organ system.
  4. It increase the survival.

6
TYPES OF TISSUE
  • There are two types of tissue
  • Plant tissue
  • Animal tissue

7
Plant Tissue
  • MERISTEMATIC
  • TISSUE
  • Apical
  • Intercalary
  • Lateral

Permanent Tissue
Complex permanent tissue
Simple permanent tissue
1.Parenchyma 2.Collenchyma 3.sclernchyma
1.Xylem 2.phloem
8
MERISTMATIC TISSUE
  • It is the plant tissue of thin walled cells which
have potential to divide and form new cells.
  • Cells of this tissue are very active thin walled
    and have dense cytoplasm.
  • They do not have vacuole

9
APICAL MERISTEM
  • It is present at the growing tips of stem and
    root.
  • It increase the length of stem and root.

10
INTERCALARY MERISTEM
  • It is present at the base of leaves and
    internodes.
  • It helps in growth of leaves and internodes.

11
LATERAL MERISTEM
  • It occur on the side of the stem root.
  • It increase the girth of stem and root.

12
PERMANENT TISSUE
  • The plant tissue where cells have lost the
ability to divide and have taken a permanent
shape , size and function is called permanent
    tissue.

13
SIMPLE PERMANENT TISSUE
  • The tissues in which permanent cells are similar
    in structure origin and function

14
  • It is simple permanent tissue having thin walled
    living cells.
  • Cell wall is made up of cellulose..

15
COLLENCHYMA
  • It is the simple permanent tissue made up of
living cells which are irregularly thickened at
    the corners.
  • These cells have very little intercellular space
    b/w them.

16
SCLERENCHYMA
  • It is simple permanent tissue made up of dead
    cells.
  • The cell wall of this tissue is thickened and are
    made up of lignin.
  • They is no intercellular space b/w them.

17
COMPLEX PERMANENT TISSUE
  • It is made up of more than one type of cells
which work together to perform a particular
    function.

18
XYLEM
  • It is complex permanent tissue which take part in
transport of water and minerals to different
    parts of plants.
  • COMPONENT OF XYLEM
  • TRACHEIDS
  • XYLEM VESSELS
  • XYLEM FIBRE
  • XYLEM PARENCHYMA

19
PHLOEM
  • It is complex permanent tissue which transport
food from leaves to other parts of plants.
  • COMPONENT OF PHLOEM
  • SIECE TUBES
  • COMPANION CELL
  • PHLOEM FIBRE
  • PHLOEM PARENCHYMA
