About Us

• Clogs were first made in Troentorp just outside
  Bastad in the south of Sweden over a hundred
  years ago in 1907. 
• Troentorp Clogs has always emphasized the
  importance of orthopedically correctly
  constructed clogs, the base being made of
  alderwood, with the right proportions of the
  curvature of the clogs insteps.

Crafting The Clogs

• Wooden BottomsFirstly the logs are sawn up into
  planks then an important process starts, the
  drying of the wood. For newly sawn wood the
  drying process can take five weeks. The moisture
  content is reduced to around 11 to ensure
  stability of shape after machining.

• Leather uppersThe leather hides are first
  inspected before we click out the uppers. Each
  model and size has its own die to give the best
  possible fit for the clogs. After clicking, the
  upper are stitched and have straps and buckles
  attached.
• LastingThe uppers are soaked before the uppers
  are stretched onto the last. This way the clogs
  get a good shape already during production and
  not on the wearers foot. You can read more about

• NailingThe clogs are nailed with real nails
  rather than staples. This production stage is the
  most physically demanding. After the clogs have
  been nailed, the surplus leather is cut away. The
  clogs are then checked before entering a drying
  room. Once dry the clogs are put to cool down and
  then we remove the lasts.
