What you should know about Scar Removal
  • Almost all of us have one type of tarnish or
another, and in reality, they each tell personal
story, but sometimes because of them, we become
self-conscious. Today removing scar is easier
than ever. With new improvements in the cosmetic
field, the removal process we are referring to
does not involve using tons of fading cream and
seeing minimal results we are talking about your
tarnish being completely removed, as in gone.
Dr.Torgerson, Facial Plastic Surgeon out of
Toronto recommends that if you have scars that
you find unattractive and are affecting your
self-esteem, there are solutions! Read on

Scar Types
  • While all may look the same in appearance
generically, the fact is there are different
types of scars, and the different types call for
    different treatment methods.

Acne Scarring
  • These type typically only results from severe
acne cases. They can range in appearance from
mild with a slightly angular and wavy looks, all
the way to the deeper pit marks we despise so
    much.

Keloid Scarring
  • This type of blur comes from an extended and
tough time of healing. This time of it will
usually be larger than the injury that caused it,
and over time these types can be a hindrance to
free movement. These are most often seen, or more
    noticeable, with individuals with darker
    pigmentation.

3
Hypertrophic Scarring
  • These are red and inflamed or raised in
appearance. They may resemble the Keloid tarnish
somewhat, however they are not larger than the
    injury from which they resulted.

Contractual Scarring
  • These are usually the result of a burn injury.
These will tighten up during healing and can
impede freedom of movement. These are able to go
fairly deep thus affecting the nerves and muscles

Treatments used on the Common Scar Types
  • The treatments below are the top treatments for
    removal
  • Acne Scarring
  • Depending on the size, depth, and severity,
    laserand/orfillers are the besttreatments. AFT
also known as Advanced Fluorescence Technology is
a form of intense pulsed light (IPL) that helps
    reduce or eliminate.
  • Keloid Scarring
  • Treatments for this can include silicone sheet
    treatments, cryotherapy, freezing, for smaller
scars, or steroid injections. However, most of
the time, the best solution is surgical removal.
  • Below is a video of Dr.Torgerson, discussing
about keloid scarring in the ear and otoplasty at
    his Toronto clinic
  •
  • Hypertrophic Scarring
  • Silicone sheet treatments for tarnish flattening
are one effective treatment form, as are steroid
injections, which reduce inflammation of the it
    and the appearance of redness.

5
  • Contracture Scarring
  • Since this tarnish tends to go deep and affect
the nerves, surgical removal is typically
recommended by your cosmetic surgeon for the
removal or minimization of these types.
  •
  • You no longer have to go through life
