1Tom Anagnost's Soccer Background
2Tom Anagnost is a superb head soccer coach and
has mentored innumerable players in the sport. He
has been a head coach for more than 14 years, but
has recently began visiting numerous established
universities including Virginia Tech, the
University of Virginia, Duke, Florida State
University, the University of Florida, etc. to
gather program data to analyze how the best
coaches in the game run their programs.
3He began his soccer career in the Saginaw
Township Soccer Association prior to going on to
play at Heritage High School. He graduated from
Heritage in 1991. At Kalamazoo College, he was
captain of the team for two years along with the
team MVP three years in a row. He collected All
MIAA 1st team honors for all four seasons he
played, making him the 5th player in the history
of the MIAA to achieve such honors. He also
earned All Midwest Region 1st team honors for all
four years, the first player in the history of
the league to do so.
4In 1994, Tom Anagnost became the MIAA Most
Valuable Player. He also earned NCAA Division III
All America honors for three consecutive years,
making him the 1st player in the MIAA records to
attain this achievement. Additionally, in 1995,
he received the C.W. Opie Davis award for the
top senior male athlete at the school. The
following year he became a member of the Chicago
Power in the NPSL which was a springboard for his
professional career.
5Until 1997, he played for the Mid Michigan Bucks
in the USISL, and started coaching the Heritage
boys' team and the girls' varsity soccer at Bay
City John Glenn for three years (1999-2002). In
2003, he served as the Flint Powers Catholic High
School girls and boys varsity coach as well as
taught at the school. His teams repeated as state
finalists and Tom Anagnost earned the Regional
Coach of the Year multiple times. His commitment
toward soccer has earned him huge recognition in
the sports world.
