bicycles

Travelling on yer bike is the perfect solution
for many of the problems faced by commuters
today. Its a cheap, eco-friendly and fuel free
means of transport. Moreover, it allows lessening
the congestion from modern cities.
As cycle is less space consuming, there are
reduced parking woes. If promoted to increased
levels, cycling can help in combating the global
warming since there are no poisonous emissions
while cycling unlike while commuting by cars and
motorbikes. Hence, it can prove to be an
effective means of reducing the carbon footprint
considerably. Then, there are health benefits of
biking that allows the rider to stay fit and
healthy.

The overarching attitude of todays generation is

than 6-8 Km in terms of distance. At a practical
level, you can easily undertake such small
journeys on foot or on yer bike thereby,
contributing to make the environment a greener
and healthier space. Owing to the innumerable
benefits of using bikes as an alternative means
of commuting, UK government is continuously
promoting the use of bicycles.

For instance, the UK government has launched the
cycle2work scheme for all the public sector and
private sector employees which allow one to
purchase a bike at comparatively reduced rates
than the concurrent market prices. Plus, the
employees can also save upon the taxes under this
scheme. To ensure safety and security of bike
riders, government also pushes National Standard
for training to cyclists. This training can be
given only by National Standard Instructors who
themselves have taken training for doing so, as
per National Standard Instructor Courses.

Bike abilty award is given to those who are
trained for cycling as per national standards.
The Local Sustainable Transport Fund is
specifically set aside for local authorities to
promote cycling in their respective regions.
There is also the vision document by the Mayor
that seeks to bring about a bicycle revolution in
UK that would make biking an integral part of
everyday life.
Due to the push given to cycling by government,
cycle hire services have become a big commercial
hit in London and nearby suburbs. Almost all the
leading bicycle stores in London offer both cycle
hire services as well as cycle2work scheme for
local commuters, apart from the regular sale of
bicycles and bike repair services.
