First of all we have to understand the meaning of
the word hair transplant. Hair transplantation is
a technique whereby individual hair follicles
from a part of a body having heavy growth of
hair, generally called donor site, is moved to
the balding area which is called the recipient
site. This is generally done with the help of
minor surgery.

implantation People whose hair is thinning down
because of age or genetic factor can go in for
this surgery. Sometimes young boys may start
losing hair at a very early age because of male
pattern baldness, making them lose their self
confidence too. Hair transplantation surgery

accident one may lose hair on prominent part of
the head or face, hair grafting can be of use to

hair on other parts of body like legs, arms or
chest, which can be used for grafting the bald

texture of hair, color of hair and hair density,

Normally average density of hair of a person is
taken as 30-50/cm sq, which can make one head
look full. Number of grafts needed by a person is

advice of ones physician.

• Important precaution to be considered before and
  after surgery
• Mainly there are two types of techniques used for
  hair transplantation.
• FUE or Follicular Unit Extraction individual
  follicular units containing 1 to 4 hairs are
  removed under local anesthesia and used for
  transplantation.
• FUT or strip method- Herein a strip of skin
  containing hair follicles is cut out from the
  back of the head, which then is used for
  plantation.
• Harvesting process is the same in both the cases.
  A person needs to take proper care for the hair
  transplant surgery. After consulting the
  physician, first of all a graft calculation of
  hair transplant is done. Person needs to disclose
  if he has any medical history or is taking any
  medicine to his physician.

• All the instructions of the physician are to be
  followed sincerely. One has to stop smoking and
  drinking. During surgery local or general
  anesthesia may be required to be given. Post
  operative care is as important as pre operative
  care. Semi-permeable dressing has to be applied
  and changed daily. The area where hair grafting
  has been done needs to be shielded from the sun,
  and should shampoo after two days only, to avoid
  formation of scabs. The persons hair starts
  growing normally and thickens through next six to
  nine months.
