• An OST file, or generally termed as offline
  storage table (.ost) file, is an offline Outlook
  Data File used by Microsoft Exchange Server.
• The file facilitates user to work with their mail

  right utilization of the default Cached Exchange
  Mode.
• PST files on other hand are used for Post Office
  Protocol 3 (POP3), Internet Message access
  Protocol (IMAP), and web-based mail accounts. If
  you wish to generate archives or back-up your
  Outlook folders and items on your PC, such as
  Exchange accounts, it gets essential to generate
  and use extra .pst files.

• Click on Tools menu ? Open drop down menu and
  select on Account Settings, then double-click on
  Microsoft Exchange. 
• Microsoft Exchange ? More Settings.

• Click on the Advanced tab, then click on Offline
  Folder File Settings

• In the File box, type the path to the file that
  you want to use as the .ost file and click on OK.

• The default name is Outlook.ost. If this file
  already exists, you will be prompted for a new
  name.

• Notes

• If you see this message, click on OK
• "ltpathgt ltfile_namegt.ost could not be found. Would
  you like to create it?"
• (ltpathgt represents the path to the .ost file and
  ltfile_namegt represents the name of the .ost
  file.)

1. First close Outlook application if application is
   running then Double-click on Scanost.exe

1. If you have set up Outlook, in the Profile Name
   list, click the profile that contains the .ost
   file.
2. If you are prompted to Connect or Work Offline,
   click Connect.
3. Select the options that you want.
4. Select the Repair Errors check box and resolve
   discrepancies found during scanning process. In
   case, the check box is cleared, the tool will log
   the problems but not make the necessary
   corrections.
5. Click Begin Scan.
