Title: How to Replace Hydraulic Hose Fittings
1How to Replace Hydraulic Hose Fittings
21. Locate the hose fitting and diagnose the
problem. If the hose fitting is visibly leaking,
then it will have to be replaced immediately.
Even a small leak can cost you a lot. Place the
hose on the ground and inspect it to make sure
there are no other areas of damage on the hose.
2. Turn off the power source to ease the process
of replacing the hose fitting. The hose will
release the fluid and pressure when the power is
turned off. This should be done before you
attempt to replace the fitting.
33. Remove the fittings with a wrench. The
fittings will swivel as they are turned. Fittings
range in size so the size of the wrench you use
will depend on the size of the fittings.
Stabilize the hose component by holding it firmly
with one hand as you use the other hand to remove
the fitting.
4. Use one wrench to hold the stationary side of
the coupling and a second wrench to turn the
operational coupling. This will prevent you from
damaging the O-ring.
5. Loosen the fitting by unthreading the
connection from the hose and the device. Set
aside cylinder pins and snap rings that are used
to hold the fitting in place on the hose.
46. Clean away any debris on the hose fitting with
a rag and wipe away excess oil from the hose. Use
a hose cap to plug up the hose ends prior to
replacing it with a new fitting. You can find
hose caps in your local hardware. Hose caps plug
up the hole in the hose. Remove any clamps and
guards that may be hindering the hose.
7. Install the new fitting. Make sure the clamps
and guards are properly positioned. Insert the
cylinder pins onto the fitting and then insert
the snap rings to hold the pins in position. Use
a wrench to thread the hose fitting tightly into
place. Engage the machine or power to test out
the hydraulic hose fitting.
