ANTI-WRINKLE TREATMENT BY INJECTIONS --
Description-- Anti-wrinkle injections are
designed to improve the look of lines and
wrinkles. They involve the injection of a
prescription medicine into the muscles and work
by blocking nerve impulses to those muscles.
This reduces the muscle activity which causes
moderate to severe lines to form and is perfect
for dynamic wrinkles (those wrinkles which are
accentuated through movement) such as frown
lines, forehead lines and crows feet.
Botox/ Dysport is a natural protein that relaxes
muscles to improve expression lines.
They work by precisely inhibiting the nerve
impulses which cause these tiny facial muscles
to contract.
No sedation or anaesthetic is required, you will
be able to drive and resume normal
activities after treatment.
Botox is contraindicated if you are pregnant,
breast feeding or planning to fall pregnant.
Botox is not suitable for those with certain

WHAT TYPES OF ANTI-WRINKLES?
There are a number of different types of
treatment for reducing the appearance of fine
lines and wrinkles. Common procedures include
muscle relaxants and dermal fillers.
Muscle Relaxants Muscle relaxing injections use
the botulinum toxin to block the nerve impulses
that cause muscle contraction. They are a popular
temporary non-surgical anti-wrinkle treatment.
Relaxants work by blocking the nerve impulses

Muscle relaxants are medicines that are used to
prevent and reduce muscle spasms and

HOW ARE ANTI-WRINKLE INJECTIONS DIFFERENT -

Anti Wrinkle Injections Different Types
Hylaform injection
It is an hyaluronic acid filler that is effective
in treating wrinkles that occur in the lip and
cheek area. Once when injected into the dermis
layer of the skin it binds to water and shows
immediate results. This gets absorbed into the
body gradually and there is a need to take this
filler regularly for every six months in order
to achieve best results. Some most common side
effects seen in case of this filler include
redness and bruising. However, these effects last

Restylane injection
It is a most widely used injection that is non
animal based and obtained from streptococcus bacte

injections lasts for 6 months.
Botox injection
It is a chemical substance that is obtained from
bacteria clostridium botulinum. Mostly
wrinkles occur due to muscle contraction.
Therefore, this injection acts by blocking muscle
contraction and prevents wrinkles.
It is approved by FDA and effective in treating
wrinkles that occur on the upper face. Crows
feet and lines on the forehead can also be
treated much effectively. However, it is not so
effective in treating laugh lines. The results
obtained generally last for about 4 months and
there is a need to take this injection regularly
in order to obtain best results.
HOW MANY ANTI-WRINKLE INJECTIONS NEED --
You willl need a single treatment every 4 months.
There is no cumulative effect with
anti-wrinkle injections. Repeated treatments will
depend on the individual and our medical team

WHAT HAPPENS DURING ANTI-WRINKLE INJECTIONS --
The usual procedure for anti-wrinkle injections

WHAT PRECAUTIONS SHOULD I TAKE AFTER TREATMENT-
FOLLOWING PROCEDURE FOR PRECAUTION --
Do not massage the area.
Do use the muscles that have been injected to
encourage them to take up the Botox.
Avoid alcohol for 24 hours.
Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours.
Avoid hot baths or saunas for 24 hours.

HOW SOON WILL THE RESULTS BE SEEN?
The ability to use the muscles will usually not
be apparent until 3-7 days after
the Botox
injection. It is a gradual relaxation of the
muscles rather than a sudden one. Although
some people do not see a result until the second
week, everyone should have full effect within two
weeks.

WHAT RESULTS CAN BE EXPECTED?
This procedure will smooth wrinkles that caused
by frown and worry lines, crows feet and
laugh lines. Some people have permanently
etched wrinkles even when they are not
smiling or frowning and although Botox will
partially remove these, there may be some wrinkles
remaining. Juvederm injections may be needed if
further improvement is desired. This is
usually done once the Botox is fully working.
In most people, Botox will allow little or no
movement in the treated area. However, there
are some exceptions.Some people can still cause
frown lines by using muscles in the outer part of
the forehead. This is caused by pushing the skin
across to form the wrinkles.
Some people can still have a few wrinkles on the
forehead when they raise their eyebrows. This is
caused by the eyebrows pushing upwards the
adjacent skin. Botox can be used to stop eyebrow
movement but this may cause flattening of the
eyebrow and a heavy upper lid. Rarely in some
people, Botox does not work for as long or as
well as expected. Some people have such powerful
muscles they may need larger quantities than
normal to get the same effect.
Most people will see the wrinkles if they tightly
screw up their eyes, this is due to
different muscles being utilized. If you wish to
check the effect of Botox on the frown muscles,
you must try and frown with you eyes fully open.
Even when Botox has fully paralysed the frown
muscles, you can still frown by unnaturally
screwing up your eyes because you are using eye
muscles that are normally not used in frowning
and therefore have been injected. Similarly you
can still cause smile wrinkles by tightly
screwing up your eyes.
WHAT ARE THE RISKS --
Due to the biological mechanism of action,
anti-wrinkle injections are more conducive to
side effects. Common side effects include
1. Temporary bruising from the injection itself

Mild flu-like symptoms
