Title: Concise Highlight on Non Destructive Testing

1
Concise Highlight On Non Destructive Testing
  • Non Destructive Testing (NDT) covers that huge
range of technical analysis, which is used in
both industry and science for evaluating
properties of component, system or material
without causing any harm or damage to them.
    Another definition for nondestructive inspection
is the procedure to inspect, evaluate or test
assemblies, materials or components for its
discontinuities or the differences in the
characteristics without hampering the systems or
parts serviceability. In simple words you can
say that the inspection done in such a manner
that the inspected part can be used still after
    test being done.
  • When you talk about other tests they, to some
extent, destroy the tested part or system. Thus,
they are done on very few samples, instead of on
the assemblies, materials or components that have
    to be actually used.
  • Destructive Testing is used often for determining
the components physical properties like impact
    resistance, ultimate tensile and yield,
    ductility, fatigue strength and fracture
    toughness, but the differences and
    discontinuities in any material component
characteristics are found more effectively by
    NDT.
  • In the modern era non destructive examinations
are used mainly in fabrication, testing and
manufacturing the material being used for
ensuring its reliability and integrity, for
    controlling manufacturing processes, for
maintaining a uniform level of quality and for
lowering the overall cost of production.
