If you have awesome insurance then you might not
have to pay out of pocket.  Of course, if this is
the case, then your insurance probably costs
money, so again, it is not really free.  But
you might be able to go to rehab without any
copay at all, though this would be quite rare.

2. Medicaid or Medicare
There are different rules and regulations for
people with these types of coverage, and they
might not qualify to go to just any treatment
center.  Some drug rehabs may not participate
with Medicaid, for example.  In other cases,
Medicare may not cover detox, and might only pay
for residential services.  So if a person has
been drinking recently, the might not be able to
enter rehab at all, because the rehab will insist
that they need detox in order to be there.

3. Setup for Homeless People
There are some rehabs out there that are set up
to accommodate homeless people, and as such, have
funding sources that do not depend on the person
paying out of pocket for the services.  You are
probably not going to find a detox or even a
residential unit set up this way, however.
