Toe Bunion
  • Bunions often appear as bumps or an enlarged
growth on the side of your big toe.
  • Over time the growth can enlarge and cause
    additional pain and discomfort.

5
Bunions Causes
  • Inheriting a foot shape and structure that puts
    stress on your big toe.
  •  Wearing tight shoes that unnaturally push your
toes together or put stress on the front of the
    foot such as high heels.
  • Arthritis or foot injuries.

6
Bunions Symptoms
  • Pain, soreness, inflammation and redness, burning
sensations and numbness in and around the front
    of your foot.
  • A large bump or bulge on the outside of your big
    toe.
  • Swelling and redness of the joint of your big
    toe.
  • Thickening of skin on the base of your big toe or
    front of your foot.
  • Restricted movement of your big toe, pain when
    you walk.

7
How to prevent Bunions
  • Always wear comfortable shoes that provide enough
    room for all your toes.
  • Be sure your shoes don't cramp or irritate your
    toes.
  • Buy shoes that have a wide toe box and provide
additional space between your toes and the end of
    the shoe.

8
Treatment Options for Bunions
  • Bunions are commonly treated by changing shoes in
combination with arch supports and inserts,
padding and taping your foot to alleviate
pressure and pain, medication to help control
pain, and prescription or orthotic devices to
    help with mobility.
  • Bunion Surgery (Bunionectomy)

9
Bunion Surgery (Bunionectomy)
  • Bunionectomy involves
  •  Removing the swollen tissue from around your big
    toe joint.
  • Straightening your big toe by removing part of
the bone and realigning it with the long bone
between the back part of your foot.
  • Permanently joining the bones.
