Project Background

• Purpose
• To build a network consisting of 9 to 10
  computers that Cal Poly could use for a western
  division of the CCDC competition next year.
• Develop a website and produce brochures and other
  marketing materials in preparation for next years
  competition
• Possibly host a mock competition this quarter

• Obtain complete boxes, install software, assign
  roles and configure network
• Anticipated OS Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows
  2000 Server, Windows 2003 Server, Ubuntu,
  FreeBSD, and Fedora

  regional CCDC to compare setups, procedures, and
  requirements

Open Issues

• Some competitions have their network on the
  internet, others only have one separate
  workstation on the internet. Will our network
  (mock trial) be on the internet?
• Last quarter has one set of computers, this
  quarter has 2 different sets. This results in 3
  different sets of computers. The competition
  requires X number of identical sets. X number
  being the number of teams. How do you want to go
  about creating identical sets? Ghosting (cloning)?

Open Issues

• Other regions have a network printer as one of
  the services to maintain up and running. Do we
  want to implement a printer as well?
• Do you have any alternatives for communicating
  with other regional CCDC representatives?
