Center have partnered on Second Chance for 17
years - Positive, collaborative relationship has provided
funds for a top quality dropout recovery program
and for 9-Rs general use - Past PPOR funds have enabled DAEC to serve DeNier
students and LMB reading students at DHS

- 1. Assessment with Test of Adult Basic
Education (TABE) and CASAS - 2. ABE taught day (M-F) and evening (T Th)
- Remediation for those below 9th grade
- One-on-one and very small groups
- Lindamood-Bell Program
- 3. GED taught day (M-F) and evening (T Th)
- Small classes and individually
Mandated by USDOE for placement and evaluation

- 36 of our 64 GED completers in 2007-08 were under
21 - These 36 students count as completers for 9-R
with CDE Annual Performance Formula (only 22 were
shown on CDE website) - Total number of Second Chance students served was
202 - 88 students, part time and full time, were
included in The Count and PPOR funding (78.5
FTE)

The Commons Child Activity Center is operated by
DAEC and the staff is led by Patsy Ey, who is
Director Certified with CDE. Her staff of five
assistants are updating their skills and
obtaining the training required to meet QualiStar
standards.
