Definitions

• IDEA multiple disabilities, not severe
• (as all disabilities range from mild to severe)
• Multiple Disabilities
• Concomitant impairments the combination of which
  causes such severe educational problems such that
  they cannot be accommodated in special education
  programs solely for one of the impairments
• Not include Deaf/Blindness
• Less than .5 of total special education
  population

• Knowledge of assistive devices
• Task analysis
• Use time wisely

Instructional Priorities

• Dignity
• Self-determination
• Attitude
• Involved in normal routines of school as much as
  possible
• Instruction should occur in LRE and most natural
  environments
• Activities should be meaningful and related to
  objectives and goals
• Improve attitudes of all people in school
  environment toward students with severe
  disabilities
• Utilize 3 levels of assistance
