Health Insurance Purchasing Group History
  • Process started 7 years ago - 2001
  • Arkansas Legislature passed a Health Insurance
    Purchasing Group act (HIPG) in 2001 designed for
    small business (1 to 99 employees)
  • Legislation amended in 2005 to include up to 199
    employees
  • Chamber Alliance Program or CAP name given to
    purchasing group
  • NLR CAP started on November 1, 2004
  • As of March 1, 2008 there are over 1,800 covered
    lives.
  • Over 24 of these lives had no insurance before
    the CAP.
