2Overview of Brio Quickview
- This job aid is intended to show the basic steps
necessary to use Brio Quickview to access queries
and reports for NASA ePayroll. - Topics covered

3Access the Datamart Download the Quickview
Plug-In
- System Requirements
- Windows95, 98, 2000, ME, NT, or XP
- 10 MB Hard Disk
- 32 MB RAM (recommend 64 MB)
- Connectivity to NBC, Products and Services
- Color or gray-scale monitor
- Browser Extension
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 (w/SP2) or higher
- Enabling Java
- NASA users must have Java Virtual Machine enabled
to access FPPS and the Datamart. To enable Java
Virtual Machine on Internet Explorer v5.5 - Go to Tools and Click on Internet Options
4Access the Datamart Download the Quickview
Plug-In
- Click on the Advanced Tab.
- Scroll down to the Microsoft VM heading
- Click the box next to Java console enabled
(requires restart), if it is not already checked. - Click OK
Note If the Java console enabled box was not
already checked (and you were required to
complete step 4.), you will need to restart your
computer (from the main Windows directory),
before continuing with the download process.

Plug-In
- Using Internet Explorer, navigate to the FPPS
Datamart Web page at https//securedatamart.nbc.g
ov
- Click the Show Document List icon
6Access the Datamart Download the Quickview
Plug-In
- Enter your FPPS Username and Password, and then
click the Logon button. - Note If your FPPS password has expired, you will
need to call the Help Desk to have it reset. You
must then change your password from the new
default prior to proceeding. - Once you are authenticated as a valid user, a
Rules of Behavior dialog box appears. Read the
Rules of Behavior and confirm your acceptance of
the conditions by clicking the Agree button at
the bottom of the screen.
7Access the Datamart Download the Quickview
Plug-In
- On the next screen, select the appropriate
plug-in, Brio.Quickview. - Click Begin to start the download and wait until
you are shown a digital certificate asking your
permission to install software. (See next step)

- Click on Yes to begin the download process.
- Click on OK, when you receive the successful
installation dialogue box.

- After the download is complete, click the Finish
button in the dialog box.
- The document list appears in a new browser
window. - You have now Successfully downloaded the plug-in
(a one-time process), and have accessed the
Datamart. Going forward, you will be able to
access the Datamart by following the directions
included in this job aid.
10Access the Datamartand Logging on to Brio
- Using Internet Explorer, navigate to the FPPS
Datamart Web page at https//securedatamart.nbc.g
ov
- Click the Show Document List icon
11Access the Datamartand Logging on to Brio
- Enter your FPPS Username and Password, and then
click the Logon button. - The OnDemand Server will then authenticate your
Username and Password, and then retrieve the list
of documents for which you have access. This list
will appear in a new Windows browser.
12Accessing Queries/Reports
- The Report Catalog List is the first window
displayed after logging on. It is subdivided
into folders that are named for the files from
which the queries are based. - Within the NASA Report Catalog, you will find
- folders,
- subfolders
- and reports/queries.
- You can open a report/ query by clicking on it.
13Accessing Queries/Reports
- Queries in the NASA Pay folder produce reports
that are related to Payroll activities, while the
queries in NASA EEO and NASA Personnel produce
reports that are related to activities in those
respective areas.

You may need to use the scroll bar to view all
results
You can also search for reports by using the
search field. Note A simple way to display an
alphabetical list of all queries is to type a
in the search box and click the Search button.
The list will display all queries related to the
search criteria. You can select a query by then
double clicking on it.
15Processing Queries
- This section will show you how to run the query
that you have selected from the Report Catalog. - As a Quickview user, you may only access and
process the predefined queries/reports that are
listed in the Report Catalog.

When you open a query, the screen should look
like this. If it does not, you may need to select
the Section/Catalog view under View on the main
toolbar.

To process the query, click on Process.

After you click on Process, a Limit box (or a
series of Limit boxes) will appear. Select the
limit from the list (by clicking on it) and then
click on OK. If you do not want to limit on a
particular item, click on Ignore.

Report View
The information will then be displayed. This is
a depiction in Report format. You can view the
information in a tabular format by clicking on
Results, or in a Pivot format, by clicking on
one of the Pivot icons. The following slides
show examples of the other formats.

22Printing Queries/Reports
To Print your report, select Print from the File
menu on the main toolbar. The Print pop-up box
will then appear.
23Exporting Data
The Copy Paste function does not work within
Brio. To copy items, you should use the Export
function, which is located under the File menu on
the main toolbar.
