EARLY LIFE
  • He was born on January 14, 1741 in Norwich,
    Connecticut
  • His mom and dad were divorced and some of his
    siblings died from Yellow Fever
  • Without money, Benedict was withdrawn from school

ADULTHOOD
  • Arnold was originally a patriot, but served
    King George the 3rd with the same skill and
    daring he had shown in the Patriot cause
  • In 1780 he formed a plot to take control of the
    fort at Westpoint, New York, and gave it to the
    British
  • In the February 1777 Congress, despite General
    Washingtons orders, they promoted 5 Brigadier
    Generals of junior rank to Major Generalships
    over Arnolds head.

IMPORTANCE DURING the REVOLUTION
  • He was a General that turned traitor during the
    Revolutionary War
  • Arnold pushed on the northern end of Lake
    Champion, where he destroyed a number of ships
    and a British fort
  • In 1779 he was court-martial because of disputes
    with Civil Authorities.

LATER YEARS
  • In 1797, the British government granted him
    13,400 acres of land in Canada, but the land was
    little use to him
  • He spent his remaining years as a merchant in the
    West Indies Trade
  • In his last days, Arnold was burdened with dept,
    became discouraged, and was generally
    distrusted
  • One day, America was happy, Benedict Arnold died
