4Communication Speed (Baud Rate)
- VXC card supports bard rate up to 115,200 bps.
- Also works with 460,800 bps when communication on
a very short distance. - Does not work with 921,600 bps since the
protection components limitation. - The related conditions includes quality of
cable, distance and environment (noise) etc.
5Selection for RS-485 Master/Slave
- RS-485 requires pull-high/low bus signals
- RS-485 requires one host/device to pull high/low
the bus signals. - Many device pull the signals at the same time may
cause communication problem. - Master/Slave selection on VXC Card
- There are jumpers on the VXC cards for users to
configure the RS-485 port as master
(pull-high/low) or slave. - That would be better to choose a suitable
configuration depending on your communication
system. - Default Master (Pull)
6Self-Tuner for RS-485
- RS-485 Requires Direction Control
- 2-Wire RS-485 is designed for half-duplex
communication, and users have to consider the
sending/receiving issue. - Other company may use RTS signal to control the
RS-485 direction. This may have timing issue and
cause communication problems. - Self-Tuner Controls the RS-485 Direction
Automatically - ICP DAS provides Self-Tuner ASIC that
automatically control the RS-485 direction, baud
rate and data format changes. It is fully
controlled by hardware, so no more direction
control issue for users. - This provides a stability communication and
speeding your system development.
7COM-Selector
Special Design from ICP DAS
- 8-Bit DIP-Switch, defines 0 255Special design
from ICP DAS. - 0 (All Off) Auto-select COM Port
NumberSelecting by Windows system, may have a
dynamic number.Automation System may not get the
correct COM port number and cause system failure. - 1 255 COM1 COM255Selected by user, fixed
COM port number. Its recommended to reserve
(dont use) COM1 COM4 for other PnP COM Ports.
This prevents confliction. Users have to make
sure the selected COM port number is available,
or the port will not work. - Example COM-Selector set to 0x052-Port Card
COM5, COM64-Port Card COM5, COM6, COM7, COM8
8Up to 128-byte Hardware FIFO
- Standard 16C550 chip provides 16-byte hardware
FIFO - The new VXC cards from ICP DAS provides 128-byte
hardware FIFO for each port - 128-byte hardware FIFO is useful when
communication in high speed or in a heavy loading
system.
9ESD Protection
- TVS (TRANSIENT VOLTAGE SUPPRESSOR) diode protects
components by providing a transient current path
to the frame ground when there is high voltage
noises.
10Isolation
- DC-to-DC converter provides Power Isolation
- Optocoupler component provides Signal Isolation
