- Definition of Art
- Art (from the Latin ars, meaning skill or
craft) is the product or process of the
application of a body of knowledge, most often
using a set of skills. - The process or result of making material works
(or artwork) which, from concept to creation. - Serving as a method of pure creativity and
self-expression. - As a form of cultural expression, art may be
defined by the pursuit of the usage of narratives
of liberation and exploration.
4- The history of art
- Refers to the history of the visual arts, such as
painting, sculpture and architecture. The term
also encompasses theory of the visual arts. - Attempts an objective survey of art throughout
human history, classifying cultures and periods
and nothing their distinguishing features and
influences. - Artist
- a person who engages in an activity deemed to be
an art.

- Visual art and design

- The study and evaluation of art.
- Though art criticism can be applied to any
artistic field - To have a rational basis for the appreciation of
art and avoid subjective opinions of taste but
this is not always achieved.
8Definition of leisure
- Refers to the time spent in or free for
relaxation or enjoyment. - Encompassing a wide range of activities and
emotions. - Examples drawing, television viewing, sports,
attending movies, listening to music, etc. - As a form of a self-meditation and
self-improvement.
9Introduction of western painting
- The practice of applying pigment suspended in a
carrier - Used in an artistic sense it means the use of
this activity in combination with drawing,
composition and other aesthetic considerations in
order to manifest the expressive and conceptual
intention of the practitioner. - E.g. sketching, water color, oil painting,
acrylic paint, printmaking. -
10What is sketching?
- Sketching is drawing it is a means of making an
image, using any of a wide variety of tools and
techniques. It generally involves making marks on
a surface by applying pressure from a tool, or
moving a tool across a surface. - The main techniques used in drawing are line
drawing, hatching, crosshatching, random
hatching, scribbling, stippling and blending. An
artist who excels in drawing is referred to as a
draftsman or draughtsman. - The sketch is "the idea" "IDEA". Also is all
graphs behavior foundation, in particular drawing
foundation. To the present, the sketch had been
considered is one kind of special performance
technique including line description, light
shade, key, melody and so on.

14Watercolor
- Watercolor paints are painted by water, saran,
and melt limpid color. Watercolor is easier to
bring with instead of oil paint, and it is faster
to get dry. Watercolor is easier to use than oil
paint or acrylic, and they are less expensive.
Watercolor is usually used for sketching and
drawing illustration.

16Oil painting
- Oil painting is done on surfaces with clothes
ground into a medium of oil. Oil paint has a long
history of used for painting. Its even almost
the oldest kind of paint. Artists who draw great
oil painting are usually the who well-known in
today, such as Da Vinci.

18Acrylic paint
- Acrylic paint is fast-drying paint which major is
soft and washable. Acrylic paint can be used with
water or without water. When the acrylic paint
was dried, it becomes water-resistant. People who
want to learn oil-painting, they mostly will try
acrylic painting first. As it is quiet similar
with the oil paint and it is cheaper.

20Printmaking
- Printmaking is a process for producing additional
copies of artwork. Prints are created on a flat
surface called a plate. They are commonly made of
plastic, metal or wood. Making print is fun and
you may have tried you when you study primary
school, dont you remember the small prints you
made by using potatoes?
