  for phonics instruction to be effective

Rhyme and rhythm

• Hearing and identifying similar

• Listen for beginning sounds in childrens names
• Sort out objects and pictures by beginning,
  middle, and ending sounds

• Use manipulatives (chips, blocks, pretzels, coins
  etc) when counting sounds
