Title: Wind and Weather Data and Preliminary Results
1Wind and Weather Data and Preliminary Results
2Outline
- Motivations and Objectives
- What has been done?
- Street level wind direction vs. synoptic wind
direction - Conclusion Future Work
31. Motivations
- How does the horizontal transport compares with
the vertical mixing? - How do they relate with the synoptic conditions?
Objectives
- How does the wind direction at the street level
relate to the synoptic wind direction? - How does the wind speed at the street level
relate to the synoptic wind speed?
42. What has been done?
- Sonic anemometer measurements at 6 locations at
the street level 2 reference wind speed
measurements (AWS sonic). - Complete data check preliminary analysis for
Site 1, Site 2, Site 5 (basement), reference
sonic (roof) and reference AWS (roof). - data are available as 10min averages on the
DAPPLE web site - Partial data check for Site 4 (lower and upper)
and Site 5 (roof) (Leeds).

Channelling effect
144. Conclusions Future work
- The horizontal transport seems to be dominated
by the channelling effect. - The vertical transport might be dominated by
street canyon vortex?
- Street level wind speeds vs. synoptic wind
speeds - To quantify the vertical transport (Gloucester
Place Marylebone) Leeds anemometers - To perform spectral analysis (wavelets analysis?)
