  • Shakespeare was born in April of 1564 in
    Stratford-upon-Avon. The day of his birth is not
    officially known, but it is said to be April 23.
  • 1582
  • Shakespeare was married in 1582 to a girl by the
    name of Anne Hathaway.
  • 1586-1592
  • There is no record of Shakespeares life from
    1586-1592. This period of time has been called
    The Lost Years.
  • 1592-1611
  • From 1592-1611 Shakespeare created most and the
    best of his works. Many of these plays and poems
    are still considered today to be masterpieces.
  • 1616
  • Shakespeare died in 1616 from an unknown cause.

  • Shakespeare was born to John and Mary
    Shakespeare. John was leather worker and a
    politician. He had 7 siblings, being the third
    child and first son.

Education
  • Although there is no record of Shakespeare
    attending the Stratford grammar school, it is
    certain that he did attend for two reasons. It
    was built for the purpose to educate the sons all
    the citizens. And also all sons of government
    dignitaries attended for free.

Shakespeares Recognition
  • It is uncertain that Shakespeare won any awards
    in his
  • time, but he certainly was recognized greatly for
    his work.
  • Robert Greene, a minor Elizabethan playwright,
    had

  • for there is an upstart Crow, beautified with
    our feathers, that with his Tygers hart wrapt in
    a Players hyde, supposes he is as well able to
    bombast out a blanke verse as the best of you
    and beeing an absolute Johannes fac totum, is in
    his owne conceit the onely Shake-scene in a
    countrey.
