  • What or Who is this true church?
  • The true church, composed of the whole number of
regenerate persons from Pentecost to the
Rapture (1 Cor.1552), united together and to
Christ by the baptism of the Holy Spirit
(1Cor.1212-13), is the body of Christ of which
He is the Head (Eph.122-23). As such, it is a
holy temple for the habitation of God through the
Spirit (Eph.221-22) is one flesh with Christ
(Eph.530-31) and espoused to Him as a chaste
virgin to one husband (2 Cor.112-4).

  • Eph. 14 and 1 Pt. 12
  • According as he hath chosen us in Him before the
    foundation of the world
  • - And -
  • Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the
    Father

7
A Warning
  • As we talk about subjects like foreknowledge and
predestination, these are very profound, very
deep truths and as we try to understand them with
our limited minds, as we try to grasp the purpose
of God, we have to remember that we're embarking
upon a journey into a realm of truth for which we
are not fully equipped.  In other words, we have
to recognize at the beginning that we're going to
get in pretty deep and we're going to get in way
over our head, in fact we're going to be beyond
our capability to comprehend.  We're going to
journey into the divine infinity of divine
purpose and no higher pursuit than that exists
and we have limits as to how far we can really
    go.
  • Quote from John MacArthur

The TRUTH behind our Salvation
  • The PURPOSE for PROGRESS of Salvation
  • Romans 829-30
  • For whom he did foreknow, he also did
predestinate to be conformed to the image of his
Son, that he might be the firstborn among many
brethren. Moreover whom he did predestinate, them
he also called and whom he called, them he also
justified and whom he justified, them he also
    glorified. (KJV)

  • Eikon
  • noun

    (figuratively) representation, resemblance

11
The Purpose
  • Why does He want to make us like Christ?  So that
there will be many brethren among whom Christ
will be the firstborn.  Firstborn is the word
prototokos and it means the premiere one, not in
chronology, it means the firstborn was always the
most notable child, the one who inherited
everything, the one who had the rights and
privileges and honors, it's the position of
preeminence.  You see, God had a plan and the
plan was that there would gather around Christ a
redeemed humanity made in His image who would
view Him as preeminent and thus forever and ever
and ever they would praise and honor and glorify
His name...and that's why we were saved.
  • Quote from John MacArthur
