Our Invisible Clothes
2
James 1
  • 19 This you know, my beloved brethren. But
everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak and
slow to anger 20 for the anger of man does not
achieve the righteousness of God. 21 Therefore,
putting aside all filthiness and all that
remains of wickedness, in humility receive the
word implanted, which is able to save your souls.
22 But prove yourselves doers of the word, and
not merely hearers who delude themselves.

The Pattern Of Self-Deception
  • This you know! 119
  • First, we see it.
  • Immediately look away.
  • Before any of it sinks in.
  • Does not bridle his tongue.
  • Making a case against the truth.
  • No humility, 121.

5
The Solution To Self-Deception

  • Listen and understand whats wrong.
  • Be slow to speak!
  • Close our mental and physical lips, and listen
    some more.
  • Be slow to wrath!
  • Tell our emotions to wait, and listen some more
  • Swallow our pride!

The Deadly Deception Security
  • Rev 315-18 I know your deeds, that you are
neither cold nor hot I wish that you were cold
or hot. 16'So because you are lukewarm, and
neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of My
mouth. 17'Because you say, " I am rich, and have
become wealthy, and have need of nothing," and
you do not know that you are wretched and
miserable and poor and blind and naked, 18 I
advise you to buy from Me gold refined by fire so
that you may become rich, and white garments so
that you may clothe yourself, and that the shame
of your nakedness will not be revealed and eye
salve to anoint your eyes so that you may see.

The Deadly Deception Security
  • 1 Cor 316-18, 44-5 Do you not know that you are
a temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells
in you? 17 If any man destroys the temple of God,
God will destroy him, for the temple of God is
holy, and that is what you are. 18 Let no man
deceive himself. If any man among you thinks that
he is wise in this age, he must become foolish,
so that he may become wise. 4 For I am conscious
of nothing against myself, yet I am not by this
acquitted but the one who examines me is the
Lord. 5 Therefore do not go on passing judgment
before the time, but wait until the Lord comes
who will both bring to light the things hidden in
the darkness and disclose the motives of men's
hearts and then each man's praise will come to
    him from God.

The Deadly Deception Security
  • Gal 54, 64-5 You have been severed from Christ,
you who are seeking to be justified by law you
have fallen from grace. 3 For if anyone thinks he
is something when he is nothing, he deceives
himself. 4 But each one must examine his own
work, and then he will have reason for boasting
in regard to himself alone, and not in regard to
another. 5 For each one will bear his own load.
